The Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) is an international standardised service that is operated by the Norwegian Coastal Administration in Norway to ensure safe passage, efficient navigation and protection of the environment.

SafeSeaNet Norway is the national ship reporting system where vessels can book a pilot and send arrival and departure information to the Norwegian authorities and ports.

At routeinfo.no mariners can download reference routes for navigation to ports, and get important route information and local regulations that apply to the route.

The Norwegian Coastal Administration is responsible for the national AIS network. AIS enable Norwegian authorities to have a continuous overview of vessel traffic on the Norwegian coast and at sea.

The Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) service transmits correction signals to GPS navigation equipment on board vessels. The DGPS service improves the accuracy of your GPS position and the quality of the signal.

The NCA is responsible for sending navigational warnings for the Norwegian Sea, the Greenland Sea and the western part of the Barents Sea, an area known by mariners as NAVAREA XIX. We are also the national coordinator for coastal warnings for the Norwegian coast and the coast of Svalbard.

ArcticInfo provides mariners with important information on Arctic conditions and decision support for safe navigation in Arctic waters.

The Norwegian Coastal Administration is leading for the implementation of the BarentsWatch Centre. This is done through the agency’s "Centre for the Sharing of Sea and Coast Information".
